Our Mission

The Cordial Eye is a community arts organization based on the Mid-Cape that strives to use the arts and arts education as a tool for expanding the definition of who belongs on Cape Cod and what it means to be a creative person here. We are dedicated to dismantling systems of oppression in our community by creating space for historically excluded groups to amplify their impact in creating a more just and equitable world through gathering, experimentation, exhibitions, and cultural expression.

Our two branches - The Cordial Eye Artist Space, which provides performance, exhibition, and professional development opportunities for artists, and The Cordial Eye Learning Lab, which provides educational opportunities for learners of all ages- are committed to centering the voices and needs of historically-excluded communities. By creating programming by, for, and with these communities- which include BIPOC folks, LGBTQ+ folks, disabled folks, and folks with financial barriers to access- we seek to create a Cape Cod that is vibrant, equitable, and a place of belonging for all

What We Do

The Arts and Justice Collective

The Cordial Eye is a proud member of the Arts and Justice Collective, a group of four mission driven and organizations (Belonging Books, Cape Cod Voices, Amplify POC Cape Cod, and The Cordial Eye) who strive to use our collective strengths and resources to further justice and equity on Cape Cod.

Our Team

  • Anastaci Pacella

Co-Executive Director, Curator, and Founder (visual artist + educator)

Anastaci Pacella is a multidisciplinary artist who lives and works as an artist in Barnstable. Anastaci received her BFA of Art Education from the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth and an MFA of Visual Art at the Vermont College of Fine Arts. She has participated in and curated exhibitions in Vermont , Pittsburgh, and on Cape Cod. Anastaci’s work explores questions about the female gaze, sensuality, and domesticity.

Anastaci founded The Cordial Eye in 2019 in part due to a need to display her own, somewhat scandalous work, but mostly because she sensed a need in the community for a space for people who have been left out of the dominant culture on the Cape. She is deeply committed to creating the Cape she needed when she was young and a space of belonging for the weird, the smart, the creative, and the cast aside.

  • Mary George

    Co-Executive Director (musician + educator)

Mary George is a singer, songwriter, music educator, and arts administrator, originally from Brentwood, NY. After close to decade of performing and teaching, she became interested in using the arts as a catalyst for equity and justice, which led her to work as a community arts school administrator. Mary is a deep believer that the superpower of the arts is its ability to lead the human community toward encounter and empathy; both for one another and our own selves. Mary is excited to be part of The Cordial Eye; she is proud to work with an organization that is unflinching in its commitment to creating a vibrant and inclusive Cape Cod. She is especially thankful for an organizational culture that centers the historically-excluded and works by, for, and with the local community. Mary lives in Yarmouth Port with her husband, Chris, and her two young daughters, Stella Maris and Guadalupe.
