The Story of You

“The Story of You” is a visual storytelling class that gives participants the opportunity to process and tell their stories. No artistic experience is necessary.Teaching artist C.R. Florence, informed by his personal experience with recovery from addiction, incarceration, and homelessness, uses sequential art (comics) to explore topics and themes of overcoming struggle and healing. Students will learn the history of small press publications as a vehicle for protestors, under-represented, and marginalized groups, and they will become a part of that tradition. They will learn visual storytelling techniques and experiment with a variety of different tools in the creation of their own DIY chapbook. This is a multi-session class including six one-hour sessions
